BASe Airlines‚ which is also a founding part-owner of Aeroexpress Regional‚ was founded in December 1991 at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Initially‚ the company leased two LET L-410 UVP-E aircraft from the Air Traffic and Airport Administration (LRI)‚ with which they operated charter and carried mail. In cooperation with LRI‚ scheduled flights soon began‚ with destinations including Graz‚ Uzhgorod and several cities in Croatia‚ under the name Aviaexpress. As a partner of LRI and later Budapest Airport Zrt‚ BASe operated the so-called calibrating or flight inspection aircraft‚ with which they achieved a market-leading position in a short period of time in inspecting and calibrating instrument landing systems and other ground-based navigational systems in the region.

Between 1994 and 2006‚ BASe operated eleven ambulance helicopters on behalf of the National Ambulance Service‚ organizing and ensuring the performance of Hungary's helicopter air ambulance services at the country's six airports. The company acquired its first own L-410 UVP-E aircraft in 1997‚ which they used to transport cargo to the regions of the surrounding countries.

BASe Airlines acquired the first Hungarian-registered Embraer 120 Brasilia plane in 2005. In 2008‚ the second and then the third turboprop airliners arrived‚ which were later joined by a Bell 206 helicopter. From 2007‚ BASe Airlines performed scheduled flights for Malév Hungarian Airlines with two aircraft while one plane served charter flights. Since the bankruptcy of Malév in 2012‚ the company has provided regional aviation services in many countries‚ typically in the framework of public service contracts based on EU public procurement procedures.

Among the founders of the company‚ which has been operating successfully for 31 years‚ is training captain Zoltán Ármai‚ who started his aviation career with sports flying and glidin.‚ in Later he obtained a degree in aviation engineering. In addition to his 13‚000 hours of flight experience‚ he has nearly 6‚000 hours on the Embraer 120. He also flew helicopters during his career. He started his helicopter career as a ambulance pilot. His special moments included organizing the helicopter escort for the Pope's visit to Hungary or the flight under the Tisza Bridge in Szeged during a disaster management exercise‚ as well as the organization of the helicopter scenes of the film Spy Game‚ shot in Budapest starring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt.

In recent years‚ international stars such as the American band The Offspring‚ the world-famous singer Anastaci‚ and the crew of the American film series The Chronicles of Narnia flew aboard the company's Embraers. BASe Airline’s passengers include the Győr ETO handball club and teams of other popular Hungarian sports clubs as well as being particularly proud that they carried the 2017 Győr Youth Olympic Flame to Hungary on board.
