Aeroexpress Regional connects the airports of Budapest and Debrecen with cities that are difficult and long to reach by road or rail: firstly with Cluj and Targu Mures.
Aeroexpress Regional is part-owned by BASe Airlines‚ founded in 1991. The airline already participated in the operation of Malév's regional flights with their 30-passenger Embraer 120 aircraft‚ as well as successfully performing Italian‚ Croatian‚ Danish and Spanish tourism and public service tasks and has been operating scheduled flights within Finland on behalf of the Finnish state for many years. The head of the company from the beginning has been training captain Zoltán Ármai‚ the central base is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport‚ and their aircraft have spent more than 23‚000 hours in the air over the past 17 years and have made approximately 27‚000 landings without incident during this period.
The Aeroexpress Group was founded by Daniel Somogyi-Toth‚ who is known to the public as a conductor and concert organist‚ es well as the head of the Aeropark Aviation Museum at Budapest Airport. Aeropark has become one of the most popular thematic experience centers in the country. In recent years‚ together with their partners‚ they have invested much development work and focused specifically on areas that are unexploited in the current Hungarian aviation market. Aeroexpress Regional – supplementing the services of airlines operating European flights – plans to provide an alternative for city pairs that are located at the right distance from each other in the region and can be a step forward in connecting destinations that are difficult to reach. Typically‚ more than 60 regional airlines were operating in Europe before the pandemic‚ in 2017‚ they carried 77 million passengers on about one million flights along 2‚700 routes‚ but in Hungary this segment of the air transport industry has been waiting to be utilised for a decade.
Among the founding owners we can also find the well-known producer dr. Dániel Vadász‚ so it can be said that behind the emerging new Hungarian airline brand‚ together with highly experienced aviation specialists‚ an outstanding management team has been formed. The company started with its headquarters in Debrecen‚ a city to which several members of the management are attached. Debrecen is located in the geographical center of the Carpathian Basin‚ and being the largest rural Hungarian city‚ it has a prominent role culturally and logistically. This prominent role will be even more important in the coming years‚ as the ongoing investments will – in addition to economic development – also bring significant demographic growth.
